PAGASA: Tropical Storm Domeng Approaches Philippines

Tropical Storm Domeng moved closer to Mindanao early Monday, with state weather forecasters predicting that it would slow down at it approached eastern Mindanao, and linger in the Philippine area of responsibility.

PAGASA forecaster Mario Palafox said on dzBB radio that Domeng would also likely make landfall over eastern Mindanao, then head on towards the Visayas.

As of 4 a.m., Domeng was 880 km east of Davao City, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

Domeng was moving west-northwest at 15 kph, with its outer rain bands now affecting the eastern parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.

"Maaring mag-experience ang Mindanao at Eastern Visayas ng kalat-kalat at mahinang pagulan," he said.

Palafox added that while Domeng was too far to affect Luzon, there was a possibility that it would affect some parts of Luzon.

Monday forecast

PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said Mindanao, the Eastern Visayas, and Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies with scattered light rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms.
